Delight Yourself in the Lord

Psalm 37:4 says to Delight yourself in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart (mind, inner self) 5 Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

Sandwiched in between He gives you the desires of your heart is Delighting and Commintting your way to the Lord. It sounds like God wants fellowship with you. He wants your life to be first and foremost all about Him. Trust Him to bring the desires of your heart to pass.

It seems that the fellowship I have with the Lord also changes those desires of my heart. They become more of the desires that He has for me, the things I see in His word, versus the things I desired when I was of the world. Even if I try to go back to satisfy those desires now, (remembering something that may have given me delight or pleasure before) I find none. That is powerful because the major part of my time here has been satisfying those desires. And there was pleasure in them for a season but never fulfillment, never satisfaction, always pushing for something more but never being able to receive or find it. I thank God for what He can do for us if we are just willing to receive. I am amazed how knowing Him more and more changes me inwardly into what He has already done perfectly in my spirit, with His with His Spirit.
