Faith a Reaction (part 3)

Last time we asked a question: What is the only thing in the universe that motivates God to move on our behalf? Is it our needs or is it our wants? What about our faith? Does your faith compel God to do anything?

2 Tim 2:13

13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. NKJV

Listen, lets stop using our faith on God. That is not what faith is for. If God has decided not to do anything, your faith will not get him to change His mind. God is faithful whether we believe or not. So what in the universe will move the hand of God?

Matt 14:14

And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick NKJV

Mark 1:41

41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed." NKJV

Love moves God. We are healed because Jesus loved us enough to bear stripes for our healing. We are rich because Jesus loved us enough to become poor. And finally, He loved us enough to do this:

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life NKJV

God is willing to heal, to prosper, and to save, so why faith? What does faith do?

Faith A Reaction (part 2)

Some think that if we believe hard enough, confess long enough and don't forget a little begging, that we will somehow convince God to answer our prayers. Others believe that the purpose of faith and even intercession is to somehow convince God to be true to His word. We could not be further from the truth. We need to change our belief system and change our perception of God.

Some believe that God needs our faith in order for Him to do anything. Does God need our faith in order to move? Some say the opposite, that God is sovereign and it does not matter what we believe. God does what He wants. If God wants you well, He will heal you, if He doesn't then He won't. Neither of these are true. They are just opposite sides of a counterfeit twenty dollar bill.

Some put it this way; "God does not respond, to crying, begging or whining. He only responds to faith". Another counterfeit. Is that the true purpose of faith, to make God do what we want? Is God just sitting back waiting until your faith reaches a certain level?

Is that when He will finally respond to your request? If not faith, then what? What is the only thing that will cause Him to move on your behalf? What is the only thing in the universe that moves the hand of God?

I will answer these questions and more next time…

To Know the Love of Christ

Knowing Christ not only means experiencing the power of the risen Lord, but also sharing His sufferings.

Philippians 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death...

Be encouraged to grow in your knowledge of who He is and what He has done for you.

2Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (KJV).

Is it loyalty, devotion, patience, consistency, sacrifice, or all of the above? What makes one man faithful and another lacking? Some believe that people are just different. But if that were so, how could God command all of us to walk by faith?

Hab 2:4 But the just shall live by his faith.

Who are the just and what does it mean to be justified in God's sight?

Just = dikaios - just, lawful, righteous (man).

How can I be a righteous man?

Romans 5:17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

Righteousness is a gift. Just by receiving the grace of God that is in Jesus Christ. To everyone who believes. Our response to this gift is to live by faith. Not by another's faith but our own.

Faith A Reaction

Does God respond to faith? There was a saying that I was taught years ago. "God does not respond to our tears, our crying or begging. He only responds to faith." All we have to do is believe and God will give you the desires of your heart. But is that true? Can I get God to do whatever I want him to do by just believing it? Let's look at that scripture in its entirety:

Psalms 37:4-5 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. NKJV

It seems that God giving us the desires of our heart has some conditions attached.

1. Delighting ourselves in Him   2. Committing our ways to Him and   3. Trusting in Him.

This thinking that God answers prayers according to our whims is ludicrous. You might say  "pastor that is the Old Testament, in the New Testament He does give us whatever we want". Not according to this:

1 John 5:14-15 14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. NKJV

Before we believe God for something, let's find out what His will is first. Then we can be sure that we have the petitions that we ask for

God bless
